Handling the Failure
Success is not always the outcome for human in Life. There are few situations where we face the other side it, The failure.
But that is the not the end of everything, it is just a pause. There is something still exiting after that....
Handling personal failure is one of the hardest things to do. The disappointment can be hard to overcome, which sets you on a downward spiral, further adding another devastating blow to your ego. Whether something didn’t go right at work, or your personal relationship is a mess, you need to accept what happened before you can begin to overcome it.
Keep these things in mind to help you deal with personal failure.
- Determine if it truly is a failure. Perhaps your standards are irrationally high that nothing you or anyone could have done can be considered a success. Make sure that what you consider to be your failure is actually your fault and that you don’t take the blame for someone else. For example, if your adult child makes a mistake, it is not your failure. It is his. Analyze the event and see if there were other things than worked out. There is no such thing as a total loss.
- Accept the situation. If you did fail to achieve your goal, accept that it happened so that you can move on.
- Make a distinction between you as a person and the action that failed. Just because your actions caused something to fail, does not mean you are a failure. Do not be quick to judge yourself.
- Learn from the mistake. Failure is often times a better teacher than success. Having to deal with the consequences of failure can build character and help you mature as a person. The next time a similar situation comes up, you will be better equipped to handle it.
